SJBCS History

For almost 27 years, St. John the Baptist Catholic School still remained as the only catholic school here in Calumpit. But before that, have you ever wonder how it was formed? Have you ever ask yourself what is the real purpose of this institution?

February 1983, St. John the Baptist Catholic School was fully established at Washington Street of Poblacion, Calumpit, Bulacan as a renewed commitment of a then-existing parochial school which ceased operations in 1958.

Through the cooperative efforts of the community, SJBCS started as a “Parish Formation House” with a double purpose of being a school building on weekdays and a retreat or recollection house on weekends. This is in response to the articulated need for an institution that would provide a venue for the intellectual as well as the spiritual growth of the young parishioners and that would shape them in catholic tradition and prepare them for a full Christian life. It then offered a pre-school program and later on, developed primary, elementary grades and high school programs.

Aiming to form a mature and well rounded Christians, SJBCS would like to inspire its students to be competent in facing the challenges of academic life and to be men and women for others in the service of the church and society. To do this, St. John provides educational program that promotes personal dignity and individual excellence and totally committed in building a progressive Christian community.

Now, SJBCS became a part of the historic, quadricentenarian church of St. John the Baptist Parish. It stands as a catholic educational institution that lays down a solid foundation for a learned and responsive community of Christian youths.
